Wigmore is woven in a garza grossa grenadine, an open silk mesh that gives body without sheen. The mesh holds a firm knot, holds a saturated colour deeper than a twill, and supplies the texture that would otherwise come from a pattern.

How to Use

1. Wear it with a plain oxford or poplin shirt — the mesh is the pattern
2. A grenadine takes a double four-in-hand without bulking at the knot
3. Suits flannel and tweed better than a high-sheen twill does
4. The 85 mm blade needs a collar with a wide spread to sit under

Care

• Dry clean only; do not press the mesh flat
• Roll the tie rather than folding it between wears

• The open weave snags on cufflinks and jewellery — put the tie on last
• Never iron a grenadine; the mesh collapses and cannot be raised again
• Keep it away from sharp bag clasps
